July 10, 2014

Not much happening around town, everyone is enjoying the first week of summer holidays. It's a bright, sunny cool Tuesday morning and it's great to be able to open all the windows. The cookies are baking in the oven so the grandkids will be able to snack when they come over late this morning. The garden is beginning to look like a jungle and it's difficult to see where the actual vegetables are growing. Gabby and I will try to find the rows if it doesn't rain again today. The grass needs cutting twice a week unless a person wants to bale which might not be a bad idea; the grandkids have two  sheep that always need food.
Now that school is out, I don't have much news. Many of the kids have swimming lessons and there are free swim passes available for Rosenfeld kids at the post office. I imagine the pools everywhere are full every day with the heat we've been having.

Railroad
We have a lot of activity on the tracks that run just west of the village Be careful crossing the tracks when travelling west on #14. Bunge in Altona has doubled in size and the railroad need to be upgraded to accommodate the increase in traffic.

Progress report
I've begun walking outside using walking poles and it's good as long as the ground is pretty level. I'm terrified that I'll twist my ankles; it would put me back into the wheelchair and nobody wants that. So I putter here and there, a bit more every day. There's always a book in my walker and the swing is always waiting. During the day the mosquitoes aren't too bad and by evening I'm too tired to be outside. The computer has absolutely been a lifesaver. I don't know what I would have done without it.
