July 17, 2014

Has everyone warmed up from that cold spell we had at the beginning of the week? my goodness those clouds on Monday looked like snow clouds and the temperatures went down to single digits. We definitely have changing weather but it's not global warming. At this rate we won't be getting anymore tomatoes. We've picked a few sweet million to  go with the lettuce but I'm hoping there's more where they came from. The Saskatoon bushes under the netting ore looking food and I've heard that the wild bushes are loaded. the strawberries around here are not doing well and people have to drive to Winkler and further to get their fix of berries. The forecast is for hot weather towards the end of the week. Let's hope they're right.

Farewell
The Rosenfeld community wishes Pete Reimer adios and auf wiedersehen as he makes a big move to Winkler. He has made Rosenfeld his home for as long as I can remember and I've lived here pretty much my entire life. Pete will now call Winkler his home and we wish him an easy transition.

Progress report
With the drastic change in weather come aches and pains which I've never experienced before. Most of the injuries have healed from the outside but I guess the bones are slower. I just wish I didn't need a reminder of what will be the new normal for me. I wonder if living in Mexico will be in my future. Mind you, if the west coast continues with their hot weather, I could go move into the huge house that my brother Martin and Dorothy are building.
There's not much happening in Rosenfeld. Many families are camping and having lazy days. You'd think it would be quiet but the railroad crew is beeping, brumming and in general not conducive to having the occasional snooze outside on the swing.
If the weather cooperates I'm planning to take in the blues festival at the Altona Park on Saturday. It will mean packing a picnic lunch and sitting on a lawn chair for the day. Such a chore.
